Sally E. Hancock Griffith;

Sally E. Hancock Griffith; "Miss Bixie" or "Aunt Bixie" to her many adoring children and students at Red Hill School. She was a loving and caring human being who left her mark on the psyches of so many of her charges, even "beating the fire" out of Bobby Watkins during her 5th -6th grade class in 1949. When Afton Garnett was chosen Elmore County Dairy Maid and was to attend the state Dairy Maid contest to be held in the new Coliseum in Montgomery and Raymond Hall was chosen to be her escort to the event, she took them both down to Miss Grace Garnett's lunch room. There she set them down and took some of the silverware from the lunch room drawers and demonstrated to them how to select the proper piece of silverware from a formal place setting. Both of them wound up being very grateful for her taking the time to educate them on formal dining. She was born on November 27, 1901, in Tallapoosa Co., AL and died on March 22, 1989, and was buried in Refuge Cemetery, Red Hill, Elmore Co., AL. She was married to Lamar W. Griffith and her death came just 20 days after he died . They never had any children.
