The house in the foreground was built by Henry Absalom (Abb) Griffith who was born on August 15, 1911 and died on April 29, 2002. Abb built this house on property purchased from his father, George Washington Griffith, circa 1929. He had married Miss Rubie Grace Porter, who was born August 4, 1911 and died November 9, 2003. They raised a son and a daughter here, their son Jesse was born in the front bedroom of this house on February 9, 1931. Jesse died February 17, 2015. Their daughter Maxine was born in the Eclectic Medical Clinic on November 20, 1939. Abb made many additions and improvements to the home over the years. When the dirt road from Kent to the Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery was rerouted and paved in the late 1940's the grading took off a considerable portion of the front yard of the place. Abb hired Willis Hall and his son Edward to build the rock retaining wall in the front of the house along the new road right of way to prevent further erosion of his front yard.
