In this house, built in the late 1920's, Mr. John Griffith and Ms. Velma Tucker Griffith raised their two daughters, Montez Griffith Johnston and Willie Irple Griffith Bridgman Worton. It was at this house that this editor obtained his first job, thinning corn for Mr. John at 10 cents per hour. It was also at this house that in trying to show Irple how well I could dismount from a still fast moving bike, I stomped into a pile of horseshoes that had not been long removed from the horses feet. One of the horseshoes still having 2 nails protruding through it pierced my bare foot through the sole. As soon as Mr. John could remove the shoe from the sole of my foot I was taken to Eclectic to get a lock jaw shot from Dr. Will Owsley. So much for trying to show off in front of the girl I was sweet on at the time.
