John Nathan Griffith was born January 26, 1904. He married Lura Velma Tucker on October 16, 1923. He was a farmer, blacksmith and livestock butcher, and a producer of delicious cane syrup, among his many areas of expertise. He lived his entire life at his home at 419 Griffith Road in Red Hill that he built for his wife, Lura Velma Tucker Griffith. They were married on October 16, 1923. They raised two daughters at this location, Lurlene Montez Griffith and Willie Irple Griffith. Mr. John was this editor's first employer, hiring me to thin his corn crop at 10 cents an hour plus lunch at Miss Velma's table, where I sat beside one of his beautiful daughters, Irple.

Yes he was. As a kid, I would drop by his syrup mill, usually while hunting, and he would let me drink sugar cane juice from a dipper. It was fantastic!
